WIA Vancouver’s Animation Career EXCELerator (ACE) program has an exciting opportunity for Designer(s) and Story Board Artist(s) to work on the design for our ACE Short Film, to be delivered in October as part of the 20/21 ACE program.
ACE is a game-changer for gender equality in animation and this is a truly exciting community experience, where you will partner with talented women in the Vancouver animation industry, all driving the creative leadership roles as they develop (from screen to script) their short film.
If you are available for a contract for up to 8 weeks, commencing in March, please connect with us. We are totally flexible on hours, and we encourage women and non-binary folks, who are BC residents and eligible to work in Canada to APPLY.
Designer is likely to:
Under the leadership of the Art Director, creates designs that support the overall creative vision for the production
Design diverse characters, locations and/or props for a 2D animated short film
Participate in department meetings as required
Meet deadlines as assigned by production.
Storyboarder is likely to:
Create boards for a heartwarming and action packed family driven short film
Work with and under the guidance of the Director to illustrate the story, plan shots, and draw panels
Work independently with minimal supervision
Meet deadlines as assigned by production management.

Women in Animation Vancouver’s ACE Program is designed to advance the careers of women in the animation industry by giving them a key credit in the creation of their very own short film, TV proof of concept or web series pilot, and providing mentorship and training along the way, to ensure they are set-up for success. This program ‘pays it forward’. Studies show that women tend to hire more women, so having women in these key creative roles, increasing the opportunities for diversity into the future, beyond the initial participants.
